Cristian Strømmen, Head of UKTI Oslo, greets John S Southerden, Director BMEA

The British marine Equipment Association/Society of Maritime Industries heads a group of fifteen companies at Norway's international shipping exhibition and conference - Nor-Shipping 2009.

John Southerden, Director BMEA is proud to be leading the group and says "We are most pleased to be associated with marine business in Norway and have observed first hand how the Norwegian Shipyards have made great advances in the design and building of merchant ships, oil rigs, support vessels and FPSOs"

Products represented include a wide rage of marine safety equipment and services, offshore services, dry dock facilities, specialist software, lubricants, offshore and marine engineering, navigation devices and telecoms.  The group also includes the UK Ship Register and the Royal Institution of naval Architects (RINA).

The UK is the world's second largest investor in foreign markets.  Strong partnerships have already developed between Norwegian and UK marine industries. Nor-Shipping is an excellent forum for renewing acquaintances and forging new relationships.

BMEA held a reception for 140 guests at the Ambassador's Residence at the British Embassy  in Oslo on the evening of the 11 June. The event provided a relaxed setting for the UK delegates to meet international colleagues  and contacts.
