Ambassador David Powell presents Four Degree Map to Norway (23/10/2009)

Ambassador David Powell called on Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store to present a framed copy of the Four Degree Map, on Thursday 22 October 2009. The Ambassador and Foreign Minister described a close bilateral relationship between the UK and Norway sharing a high level of ambition on climate change.

The Worldwide launch of the UK map about the impacts of climate change in a 4C world. The new map illustrates the global consequences of failing to keep climate change to under 2 degrees Celsius was launched on 22 October by the UK Government. With just 45 days to go before international climate change talks begin in Copenhagen, British ministers are pressing for the most ambitious deal possible in order to avoid these dangerous impacts.

The poster shows: that a 4 degree average rise will not be spread uniformly across the globe. The land will heat up more quickly than the sea, and high latitudes, particularly the Arctic, will have larger temperature increases.
